The word MOOC was coined in 2008 by Dave Cormier from the University of Prince Edward Island for a course offered by the University of Manitoba, “Connectivism and Connective Knowledge.” MOOC is now widely recognised as a free online learning course open to the public.
COMPETITION REGULATION
- The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) competition is open to all academics from National or International Public or Private Universities.
- Participation is open to an individual OR a group with a maximum of 10 MEMBERS.
- Participants are allowed to submit more than one (1) entry. However, there will be a fee charged for each entry.
- Each entry must submit a COMPLETED ENTRY FORM with an abstract (word limit of 500 words).
- The Abstract / Product Description must include the following information:
- Objective(s) of your Product
- The novelty of your Product
- The practicality of your Product
- The usefulness of your Product
- Participants MUST SHARE PRODUCT LINK in the registration system and ensure the MOOC is OPENED to the public. Any password needs to be disclosed to the organizer.
- Any product contested in any national and international level competition is not eligible for this competition. However, an exception will be granted if there are redevelopment and improvement of the Product
- All platforms are accepted for this competition
- The organizer reserves the right to reject any application if there is a falsification of information
FORMAT OF THE COMPETITION
- Participants must submit an ACTIVE/OPEN MOOC through the registration system
- Evaluation is made online by expert juries
- Participants are to exhibit and demonstrate their innovations before a panel of judges during the ONLINE JUDGING SESSION
- The time allocation for the presentation is 2 minutes PREPARATION, 10 minutes PRODUCT PRESENTATION, and 8 minutes QUESTION AND ANSWER
- The online judging session will be conducted via the ONLINE WEB CONFERENCE (CISCO WEBEX)
JUDGING
- MOOC evaluation will be done by experienced judges selected by the organizer
- JUDGES’ DECISIONS ARE FINAL. All appeals will not be entertained

According to the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (2019), Micro-Credential (MC) is a certification of learning a smaller set of courses or modules or units designed to provide learners with knowledge, skills, values and competencies in a narrow study area /or practice.

Open Educational Resources (OER) are described as any educational resources. It includes curriculum maps, course materials, textbooks, streaming videos, multimedia applications, podcasts, and any other materials that have been designed for use in teaching and learning. OER are openly available for use by educators and students without an accompanying need to pay royalties or licence fees (A Basic guide to open educational resources (OER), UNESCO). RESEARCHERS, UNDERGRADUATE AND POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS, SCHOOL TEACHERS AND STUDENTS, AND SCHOLARS from all fields and backgrounds are welcomed to participate.
